In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most Merciful,
I am going to try to explain the SIMPLE meaning of Jihad which people might have misunderstood due to the misuse of the term!!! I hope that Allah SWT wouldguide us all to the straight path, Ameen...
First of all, what does Jihad mean???
Literally Jihad comes from the root"jahada" which means in the Arabic language TO STRIVE!!! So in theIslamic context, Jihad means to strive against the evil to be able to worship Allah SWT in a peaceful environment...
JIHAD IS THE ONLY GUARANTEE OF PEACE!!!
Very broadly, Jihad divides into 2 major categories!!!
1- Jihad against ones self and decivement of the Satan(INTERNALJIHAD): and this means that each one of us must strive against his own soul!!! Some people will say: "You are crazy, do you mean we should all commit suicide???" LOOOOL!!! Of course due to the misuse of the word, people link Jihad DIRECTLY to battles and fighting which is wrong!!! Of course the Jihad against the oppressors is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to bring peace and justice to the oppressed but we should not neglect this VERY IMPORTANT part ofJihad which is the PRIMARY Jihad which is the Jihad against the evil in ones soul and orders of Satan... This type of Jihad is important because it builds up the muslim personality to be the watcher upon itself... Allah SWT says in Al-Qiyama, Chapter #75, Verse #14:
"Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin,hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds on the day of Judgement]"
Every muslim if he/she is performing this type of Jihad he/she will beforcing himself not to commit sins(although the sins might be available) and atthe same time force himself to do good deeds(although it is always tough toquit rest as all of us love to be lazy, lol)!!! For example, if a person found a suitcase full of money on the street and he did not perform this Jihad, his soul and Satan would tell him to steal the money!!! But if he is good and wants the reward from Allah SWT he will perform Jihad against them and return the money!!! Another example would be AlFajr prayer which is a prayer which muslims perform very early in the morning!!! For a person to force himself to get out of bed at 4:00am and go to the tub and get washed up for prayer and then pray this is Jihad against our soul and Satan who usually want us to stay in bed having our nice snoring symphony playing!!! This type of Jihad is not the issue today so we will put it aside for now as most non-muslims would not disagree withsuch a point :)!!!
2- Jihad against the oppressors(EXTERNAL JIHAD): and this is the core of our discussion today inshaallah(God willing) :D!!! It is very common whenever you meet someone who is not a muslim and was affected by all the media stuff and you start talking to him he will start telling you:"You muslims are terrorists, murderers, blood lovers, etc..."... Most muslims would try to defend Islam in every possible way including our revert brothers and sisters who know this is not true because they have experienced and live Islam themselves... It is all a matter of putting the words together :)!!! The other point is that the person attacking you would most probably quote verses from the Quran(of course off some anti-Islamicwebsite) and try to make you think that they are right!!! Actually the problem is NOT about muslims as we know our religion, but the problem that those who do such things are 1 of 2 things...
A) Mercenaries paid to distort the pure picture of Islam by lying about it by quoting parts of the verses without the rest or quoting verses and not quoting others(just like faking videos by editing) and those are going to be SO ANNOYED after I finish off the articles because they will be so embarrased on the next time they are going totell a lie about Islam :)!!! People are going to spit at their faces when they show up again inshaallah(God willing) :D!!!
B) Misguided people and those are my aim by those articles... Many of those who attack Islam usually have NO knowledge about Islam and those would most probably accept the truth when they see it :)!!! They attacked Islam just out of their ignorance of the religion and because of the poisoned stuff they hear in the media!!! And from amongst those saw the truth and accepted it are 20,000 reverts to Islam every year in America ALONE :)!!!
This type of Jihad is divided into 2 types:
*Jihad Al-Talab (The invading Jihad): This was more commonly present in the earlier times of Islam when conveying the message of Islam was impossible unlike nowadays... Today we have internet, phones, traveling agencies, etc... Now we can convey the message of Islam freely without any suppression or oppression... We muslims would never attack safe people!!! But it was well known that the nearby territories would attack Islamic provinces for the sake of stealing and robbing the safe people there... If muslims had no peace treaties with those neighbours, it usually turns into a massacre... We can just count some examples... In Andalus(the Islamic Spain which lasted for 800 years) when the Christian armies entered there, muslims were ELIMINATED from the whole of Spain, although during the rule of muslims there were Christians living in peace under the Islamic ruling!!! In Jerusalem when the Crusader armies FIRST entered the city, the women and children hid in Al-Aqsa mosque but yet were all slaughtered to an extent that the blood reached the bellies of the horses!!! So this type of Jihad was only in case of a HOSTILE NEIGHBOURING PROVINCE WHICH REFUSES PEACE!!! In this case, muslims were allowed to invade that province to keep the Islamic provinces safe!!! BUT YET, when the muslims invaded those provinces we muslims had the following orders from the beloved prophet Muhammed peace be upon him: "Do not kill a woman, a child or an elderly... Do not kill a man who does not fight against you and does not carry a weapon... Do not horrify a priest or a monk praying within his temple or praying place... Do not extract a tree or destroy a house except in EXTREME NEED..."!!! So when the Islamic armies invaded those hostile provinces the aim was not at all money!!! NO WAY!!! It is to achieve PEACE!!! The proof is that upon the invasion of a province, muslims would allow the NON-MUSLIMS to keep their homes, money and property and live in peace!!! What invading army did this besides the Islamic army??? GIVE ME ONE THROUGHOUT HISTORY!!! ONLY THE ISLAMIC ARMY!!! The main aim was to convey the message of God to the people who were oppressed by their rulers and wanted to live in peace!!! The proof for this is Egypt where MILLIONS of Coptic Christians(Christians for generations) still live peacefully till today with muslims and the other example is India which muslims ruled for many years but yet 80% of the Indians are NON-muslims!!! BUT IF THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF PEACE THEN MUSLIMS WOULD NEVER ATTACK PEACEFUL CITIZENS!!! The proof for what I am saying is Malaysia and Indonesia!!! WHAT MUSLIM ARMY WENT THERE??? No army!!! It was just the Muslim merchants who showed them the beauty of Islam because UNDER THE PEACEFUL ENVIRONMENT PEOPLE WOULD ACCEPT ISLAM IMMEDIATELY!!! Indonesia today is the LARGEST Islamic country :)!!! So PEACE IS ALWAYS THE AIM OF JIHAD :D!!!
*Jihad Al-Daf'e (The resistance Jihad): This is the type of Jihad which will never stop as long as there is good and evil!!! It is the ETERNAL struggle between them... Evil by nature is hostile and if good was not strong enough to resist, evil will not stop spreading!!! Allah SWT says in Al-Anfal, Chapter #8, Verse #60:
60. Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.
61. But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah. for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things).
This type of Jihad is due when ANY Islamic land is attacked by any force, whether from previously peaceful states which broke the peace treaties or hostile distant enemies coming from far lands... In this case, it is a must on EVERY MUSLIM(adult men and women) to carry a weapon and fight back the oppressors!!! No one would ever disagree that it is our right to defend out lands, but the problem is that people soon forget who is the oppressor and who is the victim!!! During the French occupation to Algeria, ONE MILLION muslims were killed there fighting for their lands which were occupied by the evil French armies... Those freedom fighters(JIHADISTS) had 2 labels!!! For the Algerian people, they were HEROES and TRUE JIHADISTS fighting for their freedom and dignity... On the other hand, those same people were called TERRORISTS by the French army!!! SAME PEOPLE, SAME ACTS, DIFFERENT LABELS!!! For the French army, those true heroes were threatening their greed and theft in the Algerian lands, so they were to be killed and whoever helped them was put to death... Just in a few years, the Germans invaded France and now, HOW FUNNY, the French started to call those who fight for the freedom of France from the German occupation as HEROES!!! So it is all a matter of PLAYING WITH WORDS!!! Jihad(fighting oppression) was a CRIME when France was the oppressor and changed in a second to be a HEROIC ACT when France became the oppressed!!! Isn't that sarcastic??? The funny thing that the country which uses the word "TERRORISTS" the most is the United States of America which fought a long battle against the British occupation forces and were called terrorists at that time too!!! It is all a matter of PERSECTIVE!!! If you agree with the oppressors, then the Jihadists(THE TRUE ONES) are terrorists... If you are a good person and accept the people's right to defend themselves then the SAME Jihadists switch to the side of HEROES!!!
No one can deny that some MISGUIDED muslims helped theoppressing forces to MANIPULATE the true meaning of "Jihad" to link it to attacking innocent people!!! The silly part that instead of accusing them of being misguided people, the oppression(evil) forces would rather spread their ideology as if it were what Islam is all about!!! Because they want to kill the true resisitant Jihadists under a cover of them being terrorists so that they would not be accused of being oppressors, and instead of becoming EVIL OCCUPATION FORCES they become GOOD LIBERTY FORCES!!! But at the end, all they care about is their own benefit!!! Their own stealing of those poor oppressed people to STEAL THEIR LIVES!!! Iraq, just as an example, is the RICHEST country on this whole planet, but yet the evil American occupation forces stole the oil and people there don't find FOOD!!! Why??? Because they did not find anyone to STOP THEM!!! So EVIL WILL CONTINUE!!! The BRAVE Iraqi resistance killed the American soldiers till they were almost collapsing, but those are the evil acts of evil... They made a conflict between the shiites and sunnis who lived there for hundreds of years in peace to watch them killing each other while they are watching!!! STEALING THEIR MONEY AND HAVING FUN!!! The same has been planned for Afghanistan to make a conflict between the brave Jihadists there and the Afghani people who support them!!! Secret documents have been revealed recently proving this dirty theory of evil which will repeat again and again as long as evil is there!!!
Islam is a religion of peace,and we are not meant to attack civilians who were not involved in attacking muslims... True Jihadists fight and kill the invading soldiers and forces and those are TRUE HEROES!!! We are proud of them and this is NOT ONLY ACCEPTED BY ISLAM, in fact, IT IS OBLIGATED BY ISLAM!!! Fighting the evil invading forces to bring peace again to the muslims who DESERVE and WANT to live in peace is a must... If Jihad was not performed, WHO WILL STOP THE ENEMIES FROM OPPRESSING MORE AND MORE PEOPLE??? I usually give this example to explain this point better!!! If you came back home and found an intruder carrying a knife and about to kill your son and you have a gun in your pocket... Will you or will you not get it out to defend your son??? If you did not get out that gun and tried to defend your son and family you would be a CRIMINAL!!! You allowed the criminal to murder your son, and thereby your son was a victim of YOUR COWARDNESS not using every possible way to protect him... At the same time, you have given an excuse for the criminal to kill your other son too!!! WHO WILL STOP HIM??? WHAT WILL STOP HIM??? NOTHING!!! No one loves killing another person, but if you don't, that man will not stop oppressing and murdering your poor family!!! Allah SWT says in Al-Baqara, Chapter #2,Verse #216:
"Fighting is prescribed foryou, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which isgood for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth,and ye know not."
God knows that we do not like fighting!!! NO ONE DOES!!! But sometimes you are forced to fight to stop oppression rather than being a coward and fall under oppression although you have the ability to fight back!!! Even if you lose, AT LEAST DIE IN DIGNITY RATHER THAN LIVE IN HUMILITY!!!
If some muslims kill innocent people in the name of Islam,that DOES NOT MAKE ISLAM RESPONSIBLE!!! This is the most stupid thing anyone could say!!! If a student of the BEST school in the world who was taught the rules but never listened committed a mistake, the SCHOOL could not be hold responsible for that mistake!!! It is the mistake of the STUDENT who never listened to the rules!!! Likewise, if people who CALL THEMSELVES JIHADISTS murder innocent people, this does not mean that ISLAM is responsible for that NOR does it mean that ALL JIHADISTS are bad!!!

I hope people understood the GENERAL concept of Jihad in Islam and how the media of the OPPRESSING and EVIL powers try to manipulate the true meaning of Jihad as to fit their own desires to keep oppressing people without any resistance... But no matter what they say, "JIHAD" is the HONOR of muslims, and we muslims were not humiliated today and our brothers and sisters killed every day all over the world in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Chechen, Pakistan, etc... EXCEPT AFTER WE STOPPED PERFORMING THE GREAT OBLIGATION IN ISLAM!!! JIHAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear that if I were an Israeli civilian and I have met a Palestinian I would have burnt and tortured him before killing him. By one hit I killed 750 Palestinians(Rafah 1956). But no matter what they say, "JIHAD" is the HONOR of muslims, and we muslims were not humiliated today and our brothers and sisters killed every day all over the world in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Chechen, Pakistan, etc... EXCEPT AFTER WE STOPPED PERFORMING THE GREAT OBLIGATION IN ISLAM!!! JIHAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
